Renovating shrimp ponds to avoid infection with EHP micro-spore infection

In shrimp farming, EHP microorganisms are not only a seasonal occurrence such as red-body diseases - white spots or acute hepatopancreatic necrosis. This disease has grown very strongly on a wide range, with the coverage and the ability to infect quickly.

Therefore, the improvement of ponds to avoid infection with EHP microorganisms in particular as well as other pathogens in general, right from the beginning of the pond improvement is very important.

EHP (Enterocytozoon Hepatopenaei) is a very small micro -spore, surrounded by a very solid shell. EHP cells will usually have a length of about 1μm, the cell width is about 0.5-0.6μm. Each EHP cell will have a single fiber, with a length of about 0.5μm, with 5-6 spirits. Extreme fibers are the bridge between EHP and host cell, in order to transmit DNA to the host cell and perform the reproductive process.

Renovating ponds to avoid infection with EHP microorganisms

Step 1: Remove the pond water, clean the canvas, and patch the torn canvas (for canvas ponds). In particular, clean all tools and equipment of the previous crop out of the pond.

Particularly for earth ponds: People let the water drain in the pond and slug thoroughly.

Step 2: Pump a sufficient amount of water to cover the whole pond surface. Then soak ALKALITE in the pond to increase the pH to 11-12.

 - Tarpaulin ponds: Spraying all ponds, fan, pond bank, bridge of feed tray and soaking oxygen, ... Dosage: 10kg/1m3 water. Exposure to the whole pond for 2 sunny days.

- Earthen ponds: Apply alkalite throughout the entire surface of the pond bottom and pond bank. Dosage: 600kg/1000m2. Exposure to the whole pond for 2 sunny days.

Purpose: Due to the structure of EHP with a crust that is difficult to impact with chemicals, we perform the method of "germination stimulation" (stimulating EHP to launch fibers). The germination time of EHP spore will last for a few seconds.

ALKALITE - Increasing pH and fast alkalinity for shrimp. The cost for 25kg is less than 120,000 VND

Step 3: Discharge ALKALITE soaked water. (Particularly for land ponds, people skip this step).  Purpose: After EHP spores germinate, EHP will not return to the original state whether the pH drops to 10 or 9, ...

Step 4: Soak the pond pit in the pond by formol: Fans, pond bank, bridges of feed tray, and soaked oxygen. 1L Formol + 50 liters water ratio. Exposure to the whole pond for 2 sunny days.

- Earthen ponds: Spray evenly throughout the pond, fan, pond bank, and bridge of feed tray, ... dry the whole pond for 2 days of sunshine.

Purpose: damage EHP's extreme fibers after EHP has germinated.  Recommendation: The farming tools reuse for new breeding, people should soak in ALKALITE water with pH = 11-12 and rinse with formol or chlorine before use.
